Ok could be one of two reasons:
1) We Love upsetting people and all the extra hard work that makes
or
2) There is a real resons why we doing it to ensure a quality product.
Now the actual correct answer is (2) Why.....
When we introduce the new version of the Client in early September we will be introducing the nProtect System of Anti Cheat and Anti Hack software from Inca Internet or Korea. This is a massive update as far as the servers are concerned and we are one of only a very small number of companies in Europe who have gone to the expense of adding this system (It don't come cheap). For us to intergrate nProtect in to the existing servers and systems would be both very time consuming and risky, (anyone rememeber what happend last time somone tried char transfers !).
In addition until nProtect is working there is the potential for people to develop and utalize cheat systems as the NPC's are unprotected. Whilst we can still track and trap cheats we WANT and WILL do ALL we can to ensure Mir 3 is free of cheats and exploits that can carry problems forward in to Pay to Play.
Consiquentley we do not feel we have any options in this matter and that we are viewing the phase 1 of the open beta TEST as just that a TEST not free play. We will use the added time this gives us to further inprove the game and our systems.
In addition this problem never ocured in Korea because they have had nProtect from the very beginings of Mir.
We will do our best to ensure we dont have to wipe after Phase 2 but if we have to we must reserve the right to do so.
On a final note when we say wipe we do NOT mean account names and char names. what we DO mean is the removal of the Items, Levels, Skills, Missions, Quests and all other atributes accociated with the chars.
